Fifteen by Jen Estes
Fifteen is book number one I'm a series. The main character in this story is Ashley, who is sassy, and smart mouthed and smart. She is fifteen years old, from a small town just like a million small towns all over America and she dreams, not the usual dreams like you and me but very unique "dreams" that are so terrifying she is afraid to sleep. She dreams about a future, her future where horrible monsters have taken over her hometown and are after her to kill her. In these dreams she is fifteen years older and dies. Every. Single. Night. Is it true that if you die in your dreams your going to die for real? The real question is are these dreams just dreams or is Ashley seeing into her real future. I want to tell you a whole lot more about the story but I don't want to leave any spoilers. Let's just say that Ashley finds out that there is definitely more to her dreams than them being just horrible nightmares. In fact Ashley and her dreams are key in saving the future. No pressure or anything. Save the world while being a "normal" teenage girl, or as normal as you can get when you are do exhausted from trying not to sleep, that you fall asleep in class and wake up screaming. Dealing with prom, her family, which includes a political office seeking aunt, a foster sister and her mom. This unique story is full of twists and turns, and surprises. This is a page turner for sure. In it you will find all of the things I've described and more, there's the time travel element, the young adult trying to get through element and even an element of Native American legends. This book has so much to offer. I gave it 5 stars and would definitely recommend it.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.
